Advisory & Operating Partner · Founder-Led Service Firms

I Build Businesses That Can't Be Broken.

I partner with founders of established service companies who have outgrown their own bandwidth — turning a business that depends on you into one that builds value with or without you.

Built and exited a seven-figure service company. Now I help founders do the same.
The Founder's Ceiling

You Didn't Build This to Become the Bottleneck.

The business works. The revenue is real. But every important decision still routes through you, and the growth has quietly capped at the limit of your own hours.

If you stepped away for a month, you already know what would happen. The value you've built lives in your head, not in the company. That is the difference between a business and a job that pays well.

I've been inside that ceiling. I built my way past it, and then I sold the company that proved it. Now I help founders do the same.

A business that can't run without you isn't an asset. It's a liability with good revenue.
The Operator

Nobody Handed Me a Playbook. I Built One.

Two decades building, scaling, and leading organizations, my own and alongside executive teams.

Jennifer Dawn Makeeff

Advance, communications, and operations at the presidential level. The White House. DHS. HHS. Global campaigns for Fortune 500 companies across five continents. Then I left to build a service-based company from nothing to seven-plus figures, and exited it.

My work is seeing what others miss: the patterns hiding in your operations, the cracks forming before they become catastrophes, and the path forward when everything feels stuck. The businesses that last aren't the ones with the best marketing. They're the ones built by people who refuse to quit.

Turn your customers and your team into your greatest referral source. Most companies are sold on ad spend after ad spend. Ads have their place, but I'd challenge that the real engine is the experience you build, for the people who buy from you and the people who work for you. If a client has to ask, you've already missed the moment, so we anticipated what people needed before they knew to name it, solved problems before they surfaced, and rewarded customers for sending us everyone they knew. A team that believes in the company refers business and talent both. A referred client arrives already trusting you, closes faster, and refers the next one. I grew that seven-figure company on $3,000 in initial ad spend and almost nothing after. Ads rent you attention. A referral engine, you own.

Work With Me

Three Ways I Step Into Your Business.

Not coaching by the hour. An operating partner who takes responsibility for outcomes, embedded for as long as the work requires.

01

Advisory & Operating Partner

I work inside your business, not from a slide deck. We find what's capping growth, build the systems and team structure that let the company run without you, and turn revenue into durable, transferable value. And I don't come alone. I bring in the specialists and support each engagement needs, drawing on a deep network built over two decades, so the work moves at the pace of your business, not the limit of any one person. The engagement is defined by the outcome, not by a count of calls.

AI Integration, Done With Judgment

Most firms automate the wrong things and break the trust that earned them the client. I build the agents, processes, and systems that belong in your business — with judgment and integrity — and draw the line at the moments that must stay human. Includes AI for regulated and high-stakes environments where precision is non-negotiable.

The Work, Proven

What It Looks Like When the Ceiling Comes Off.

Client Outcome 01 · HVAC

A growing HVAC company, expanding faster than its systems.

New service areas, a workforce that couldn't grow fast enough, and customers who only heard from the company when something broke. The founder's systems were straining under the volume.

Internal — Operations & Team

AI sequencing routes against live traffic. A social, trade-school, and staged-incentive hiring pipeline that replaced roughly $800 a month of Indeed and ZipRecruiter spend, the kind that floods you with applicants who aren't right, with better candidates for less, fed into a paid apprenticeship and trained in-house. The phone and online booking both pressure-tested, so the system could carry the growth instead of cracking under it.

External — Customer & Market

Automatic arrival windows so customers always knew who was coming and when. A referral engine that rewards customers with account credit. And the biggest shift: one-off crisis calls turned into annual maintenance memberships. The customer with a dead unit got a real person, a fast fix, and a relationship that kept them out of the next crisis, instead of a transaction that ended at the invoice.

Client Outcome 02 · Law Firm

A law firm whose clients felt nickel-and-dimed.

Weak follow-through and a meter that seemed to run on every interaction. The most common complaint in professional services, and the one that quietly erodes the trust a firm is actually selling.

Internal — Operations & Team

Trained the attorneys to set clear expectations for when a client would hear from them next, closing the follow-through gap that drives most professional-services complaints. Moved the firm to monthly billing that felt like a relationship, not a meter. Brought in the discipline of pressure-testing their work before it went out. And incorporated AI where it genuinely fit, the hard part in a legal context isn't using it, it's the judgment to know exactly where it can't go, while holding to the strictest standards of the profession.

External — Customer & Market

Clients stopped feeling metered and started feeling cared for. Then the counterintuitive part: the firm raised its rates and grew its client base at the same time. Price sensitivity fell, referrals rose. Better service didn't just retain clients. It commanded a premium and brought more in.

In Their Words

The People Who've Worked With Me.

Jennifer is the real deal. I can't believe how much our business has transformed. She drilled down to exactly what was broken, and our business is running smoother than it ever has. I can actually breathe now.

Samantha Robinson

She'll be steeped in the details of an event and at the same time hold the big-picture reason to do it. A perfectionist, which is exactly what you want on a high-stakes task.

Gary Karr

Her ability to manage an ever-changing program and find innovative ways to gain earned media was key to our success. Above and beyond is an understatement.

Brian Cresta

Jennifer gives 150% to keep her client satisfied. Amazing to work with, in both her professionalism and her ability to collaborate.

Mary Anne Carlson

A remarkable person who gets the job done right the first time. Her energy and intelligence are unlimited, and she keeps the mission her focus until it's done.

Questions

Before You Reach Out.

Who do you work with?

Established, founder-led service companies with a real team, where the founder has become the bottleneck to the next stage of growth. Revenue means different things in different industries: a seven-figure pet-services or home-services company is a large, high-volume operation, while the same number in a high-ticket trade looks very different. So I don't gate by a flat number. If your business has outgrown your own bandwidth and depends on you to function, we should talk.

How is this different from coaching?

A coach advises from the sideline. I step into the business as an operating partner and take responsibility for the outcome alongside you. The engagement is defined by what we're building, not by a number of sessions.

What does an engagement look like?

It starts with a diagnostic of where the business is actually stuck. From there we scope the work: anything from a focused build to an embedded operating-partner relationship. The shape is set by the outcome you need, not a fixed package.

What about the AI work?

I build the AI agents, processes, and systems that genuinely belong in your operation, including in regulated and high-stakes environments, and I'm equally clear about where automation should never go. It's integration with judgment and integrity, not technology for its own sake.

What if I'm not sure I'm ready?

Then the call is the right place to find out. We'll look at where things stand honestly, and if the timing or fit isn't right, I'll tell you.
